Buying points allows you to improve the Point Spread or Totals odds of a football or basketball contest by actually buying points for the team you want to wager on.
Buying Points Introduction:
You can buy points to your advantage in football and basketball. Points can be bought on the side or on the total. Each half point costs you an additional 10 cents to the dollar. Buying on, off or through the point spread of three (in football only), costs 20 cents to the dollar (instead of 10 cents).

Example:
Cowboys -7 1/2If you want to win $100 on the Cowboys, but think they will not win by more than a touchdown (seven points), you have the option to buy a half-point (or more) to obtain the line desired. Normally you risk $110 to win $100, but with the purchase of an additional 1/2 point, you instead risk $120 to win $100 with the adjusted line being Cowboys -7.
Likewise when purchasing a 1/2 point on, off or through the point spread of three (+/- 3) you are risking an additional 10 cents to the dollar and will instead risk $130 to win $100.
Betting Rules
Example:
Miami is favoured by 4.5 points at a price of -110 to beat Buffalo. You buy 2.5 points, bringing the line down to 2 points in favour of Miami. There is a price adjustment of 70 for a price of -180 and a new Point Spread of 2. (The Key Point in this example is 3.0.)
Note:
This price assumes that half point purchases adjust the Money Line by 10 and buying points on or off the Key Point adjusts the Money Line by 20. Point purchase prices may vary.
